Request for Proposals: Training on Improved Sanitation in Schools (Georgia)

The European Foundation invites qualified organizations or individuals registered in Georgia to conduct training on clean water, sanitation and hygiene for young people involved in the Youth Integration Program.

The training aims to raise the awareness of young people about the 6th goal of sustainable development: “Clean water, sanitation and hygiene”. As a result of the training, the participants of the youth integration program (about 60 young people) should be able to accurately understand and assess the severity of threats caused by poor sanitation and strengthen their knowledge of methods and tools that will help to overcome these problems. Trainings should be held between March and April 2024.

Objective

  • The training aims to equip young people with the necessary skills, knowledge and tools to enable them to identify sanitation/hygiene problems, problem solving with local schools and accountable persons regarding targeted communication. As a result of the training, young people should understand that access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene services is their right and be able to identify ways to realize this right. Selected consultant for the participating youth (up to 60 in total). young) will prepare a training program that should consist of two components.

Funding Information

  • The service budget should not exceed 2,500 USD (billed).

Components

  • Consultants are required to:
    • Component I: clean water, sanitation and hygiene

      • Skills development: to equip young people participating in the training with practical skills to enable them to follow good sanitation practices, identify specific sanitation problems in schools, learn methods for rapid assessment of water quality and how to use toilets properly Cleaning rules.
      • Interactive learning method: use both theoretical material and Practical exercises, including group work techniques, discussions and Interactive activities that will focus Identifying and reducing sanitation/hygiene hazards.
      • Local focus: focus on Georgian schools or others on unfavorable sanitary conditions in public institutions, including on the causes and ways of their elimination, as well as the society on the importance of increasing engagement and accountability as SDG 6-is defined by.
    • Component II: Advocacy for Change/Strategic Communication and Negotiation for Advocacy
      • Learning process: conduct an introductory session on strategic communication and on negotiation.
      • Skills development: to equip the young people participating in the training with practical skills to enable them to mobilize stakeholders, identify specific problems and solve them. Developing strategic approaches to advocacy.
      • Interactive learning method: use both theoretical material and Practical exercises, including simulations, role plays and group discussions.
      • Local focus: making sure that the training takes into account the local context and allow participants to adapt the knowledge gained to the local community.
  • For the implementation of the second component of the training, the Foundation will consider finding an additional consultant, in case it is not possible to cover both components by one consultant.
  • The provision of the service should be completed no later than April 2024. The consultant should select the most effective and efficient method for the training beneficiary. The Foundation can gather 60 young people at one time for a maximum of 2 days of training at one location, if the methodology proposed by the consultant ensures that the participants are divided into at least 2-3 groups and work in small groups. The Fund is ready to consider all alternative proposals that ensure the effective and timely achievement of the set goal.
