Deadline: 24 November 2023
Submissions are now open for 9th edition of the intensive international training for heritage site managers “Building the future of heritage sites together: developing and implementing sustainable management” that will take place from June 10 to 20, 2024.
This continuing training is aimed at French-speaking managers working on natural and cultural heritage sites and cultural landscapes around the world, as well as in France and overseas: decision-makers, project leaders or part of a management team, executives in administrations. It starts from the realities and problems faced by managers and is based on their active mobilization. Successful candidates are therefore asked to present the objective they wish to achieve for their site and to develop actions to be implemented in their territory at the end of the training. The training will help them identify the resources and actors in the territory that can be mobilized, as well as the methods and the tools allowing them to achieve this objective.
Goals
- This training favors the exchange of experiences between managers of natural and cultural heritage sites. The emphasis is placed on the role of the manager as facilitator of a territorial approach. The following themes are covered: heritage values and identity of a site, integrated management and territorial project, governance, planning, mediation and work with residents, sustainable tourism, landscape etc.
- The training refers to the fundamental principles affirmed by the UNESCO World Heritage Convention of 1972 and the Sustainable Development Goals (Agenda 2030). Its aim is to support French-speaking managers towards a holistic and integrated look at the management of their site, taking into account all the issues encountered.
- Participants leave enriched by new encounters and experiences, and with methods aimed at fueling their thinking to build an integrated and sustainable management project for their heritage sites. At the end of the training, participants join an active exchange network between alumni, trainers and managers from five continents, led by the RGSF.
Costs and Financing
For each candidate, participation in the training includes three expense items:
- Item 1: international transport from the country of origin to Paris, visa (if necessary) and insurance – approximately €250-2000, variable depending on the country and the date of purchase of plane tickets.
