The International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer and Intersex (LGBTQI) Youth & Student Organisation (IGLYO) has launched the Global Online Activist Academy, a 2-week skills-based training programme for young people at the beginning of their activist careers who are passionate about activism, LGBTQI rights, learning and collaborating with other LGBTQI activists from around the globe.
The Global Online Activist Academy aims to strengthen the LGBTQI youth movement across the world by building skills and competencies, creating networks of support and exchange of practices, and increasing the resilience of young LGBTQI rights defenders, especially in hostile environments.
Programme Information
- Over the course of two weeks, participants will take part in 4 expert-facilitated workshops, as well as attempt 2 tasks to apply the skills they learned, while receiving feedback from the official Activist Academy judges.
- The Activist Academy is completely free of charge and they welcome applications from individuals and teams of up to three participants from all over the world.
Eligibility Criteria
- IGLYO particularly welcomes applications from underrepresented groups and communities such as young women, trans and non-binary youth, intersex youth, young people with disabilities, young people living with HIV, racialised youth, Black youth and young people of colour, and young refugees and migrants. In the context of the Global Online Activist Academy they particularly welcome applications from participants living in the Global South.
- The call for the Global Online Activist Academy 2024 is for you if you:
- Are between 18 and 30 years old, at the date of application;
- Are able to use English at an intermediate-advanced level;
- Are able to participate in the online live sessions taking place around noon CEST (Central European Summer Time);
- Are able to use a computer, have a good internet connection and access to basic video/audio recording equipment (at a minimum a smartphone).
