The Community Foundations Incubation Program is a 12-month initiative designed for dedicated leaders in Uganda who are committed to mobilizing both financial and non-financial local resources to tackle community challenges within their local communities while utilizing the community foundation model.
The program will culminate in each leader establishing a community foundation within their specified geographic location to improve the lives of that community.
What the Community Foundations Incubator Offers?
- This is a 12-month program that offers technical support & to the selected cohort of community foundation leaders. The themes of support will be four-fold:
- A Leadership Coaching Experience: The selected cohort of leaders will benefit from the tailored 5 modules of the GROW leadership and coaching program which focuses on self-leadership, people leadership, money management, legacy, and succession. This is a 12-week program that may necessitate on-site participation and a time commitment of at least one day per week, along with two hours weekly with a coach.
- Legal Compliance Masterclass: This will focus on all legal and regulatory compliance requirements pertaining to the establishment of a community foundation in Uganda’s context. The duration for this module is estimated at 5 days that may be both on-site and online, with the understanding that these will not be consecutive.
- Local Resource Mobilization Masterclass: A tailored masterclass on local resource mobilization and fundraising, equipping participants with strategies to effectively leverage community resources. The estimated duration for this module is 5 days, incorporating both on-site and online sessions, with the acknowledgment that these days may not be consecutive. Additional off-site support will be extended beyond the designated number of days.
- A Grant Making Masterclass: This will provide critical knowledge, skills, and best practices for every stage of the grant making cycle to enable impactful community philanthropy. The duration for this module is estimated at about 5 days which may be both on-site and online, with the understanding that these may not be consecutive.
- In all cases, additional off-site support may be extended to the cohort leaders exceeding the designated number of days for each module.
Who may apply?
- New, emerging, or experienced community leaders who are:
- Committed to leveraging local resource mobilization and other sources of giving for community-led development.
- Keen on improving the lives of people within their specified geographic area.
- Willing to participate in the program for the entire 12-month duration in on-site and online activities.
- Ugandan citizens currently resident in Uganda.
- Positioned to implement the program learnings and establish a community foundation.
- Passionate about cultivating and igniting community philanthropy for community led development.
- Note: If you are independent actor or leading a collective, a community, community based organization (CBO), or any other organization that you wish to transform into a community foundation, please be note that formal registration is not a requirement for applying.
