With the aim of reducing the lack of opportunities and support for emerging artists from Portuguese-speaking African Countries (PALOP) to integrate global trends in the arts, particularly in training in performing arts, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation launches a competition to support the realization of short-term courses, using national or international trainers.
Goals
- This competition aims to support the implementation of short courses (masterclasses), through the attribution of subsidies to artistic production institutions in PALOP Countries
- The competition also aims to encourage quality training.
Funding Information
- Up to a maximum value of 7,500 euros per course.
Eligibility Criteria
- Private, non-profit, legally constituted artistic production institutions, based in Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique or São Tomé and Príncipe, with proven activity in the artistic scene of the country where they are located, will be eligible for support.
- The support is intended to finance short-term courses in performing arts (staging and artistic direction, scenography and scenic space, lighting, sound design, costumes and characterization, dramaturgy, etc.) to be carried out in one of those countries, guided by professional trainers. Recognized merit in the disciplinary area of training and whose collaboration can be of added value to the institution.
- Proposing entities cannot submit more than one application to this contest.
- Courses must be started and carried out within a maximum period of 6 months after communication of support.
- Courses must not last longer than 2 weeks
- The following expenses are eligible for financing purposes:
- The Trainer fees;
- Expenses related to the travel of the external trainer (per diem and travel)
- Expenses for training sessions (simultaneous interpretation expenses (if necessary), communication/advertising, coffee breaks)
- An amount for general costs, not exceeding 10% of the total share.
Ineligible
- The following will be excluded from this competition:
- The Applications from entities that are in a situation of unjustified non-compliance with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, particularly with regard to the presentation of material and/or financial execution reports, or return of balances, or that already simultaneously benefit from other support granted by the Foundation.
- Support requests with retroactive effect.
- Courses that are already covered by contributions from another funding entity(ies).
