The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation launches the “Get-Envolve Ciência PALOP” mentoring program, aimed at researchers in the area of health sciences in the PALOP, which will allow young people researchers can have individual contact with a specific tutor, senior researcher, who can advise on achieving your objectives.
This programme aims to contribute to the career development of young PALOP researchers in the field of health sciences. With an international scope, it has around 25 Senior Researchers (mentors) based in various countries, who are willing to share their experiences and encourage the professional and academic development of young researchers from the PALOP countries (mentees).
The programme focuses on the mentor-mentee relationship, which is built around the compatibility of interests, experiences and personalities. Several online thematic sessions of common interest will also be promoted so that all the researchers involved in this programme can share their experiences and network.
Objectives
- The program aims to contribute to the career development of young researchers PALOP, in the areas of health sciences, namely:
- In their professional and academic development;
- In supporting specific scientific areas;
- In the development of interpersonal skills;
- In guiding and defining goals and identifying opportunities;
- In facilitating contacts and access to international research centers and networks;
- In stimulating motivation and leadership potential.
- The program will bring together young PALOP researchers (mentor) with a senior researcher “mentor”, to share your experiences and support/encourage the careers of your peers over a period of 18 months.
- The program focuses on the relationship between the mentor-mentee pair, whose constitution must take into account the compatibility of interests, experiences and personalities.
Eligible Beneficiaries
- Researchers and research leaders who meet the requirements set out in this regulation and whose career demonstrates merit, talent and excellence in the areas of health sciences.
- The following conditions of admissibility are:
- Be a national and resident of one of the Portuguese-speaking African countries (PALOP);
- Hold a doctorate in the areas of health sciences;
- Be less than or equal to 40 years old (as of December 31, 2024).
Eligibility Criteria
- National researchers and residents of one of the PALOP countries aged 40 or under (on 31 December 2024) who hold a doctorate in the field of Health Sciences and who wish to have individual contact with a specific tutor, a senior researcher, are eligible.
