The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation has announced its Advanced Training in Curation for Development to strengthen the skills of curatorial professionals and cultural agents from PALOP and Timor-Leste, contributing to the valorization of the countries’ cultural assets as important drivers of sustainable development.
The aim of this advanced training is to strengthen the skills of curators and cultural agents from the PALOP (Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique and São Tomé and Príncipe) and Timor-Leste, contributing to the valorization of the countries’ cultural assets as important drivers of sustainable development. This course also aims to explore the dimensions of creating economic value and inclusion through the curation of cultural assets.
This advanced training includes an online theoretical course in art curation, complemented by face-to-face internships for a maximum of 25 selected trainees, to be carried out in leading Portuguese cultural institutions and a final meeting.

Eligibility Criteria
- Professional curators and cultural agents from Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe and East Timor who are dedicated to the preservation, promotion and management of cultural assets, namely curators, museologists, cultural programmers, gallery owners and other agents involved in the valorization of cultural heritage and the dynamization of the creative sector, may apply for this competition.
- Candidates must also meet at least one of the following conditions:
- Higher education in areas such as visual arts, art history, cultural studies, philosophy or theories of the arts, museology, cultural production and management;
- Minimum of 3 years of professional or postgraduate research experience in areas such as visual arts, art history, cultural studies, philosophy or theories of the arts, museology, cultural production and management.
- An intermediate level of English proficiency will be valued.
- After confirmation of selection for the course, the candidate (if working in a public or private institution) will have to send a letter of support for attending the Advanced Training signed by the director/person in charge of the institution.
