The Desiree V. Cooper Memorial Scholarship Program seeks to provide continual service to the communities and encourage minorities and women in the advancement of their careers in architecture.
Scholarship Categories
- The Black Women in Architecture Award: The DVC Memorial Scholarship Foundation seeks to use this award to encourage and support more black women to pursue and achieve licensing in the field of architecture.
- The Harrisburg Memorial Award: The DVC Memorial Scholarship seeks to award a prize to a minority resident of Pennsylvania or who attended school in Pennsylvania.
- The DC Memorial Award: The DVC Memorial Scholarship seeks to award a prize to a minority resident of DC, Maryland, or Virginia.
- The NOMA Award: The DVC Memorial Scholarship seeks to support a larger number of candidates by providing this award for member of NOMA.
Eligibility Criteria
- Be of African American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, Asian/Pacific Islander, or Native American ancestry;
- Be a legal citizen or permanent resident of the United States;
- Have attempted at least one section of the ARE – to show active participation in the process;
- Have not been disciplined or been subject of a pending enforcement proceeding by NCARB or an architectural registration board;
- Has not been awarded any other scholarship or grant that covers the full cost of the ARE (i.e. The Jason Pettigrew Memorial ARE Scholarship, LFRT ARE Scholarship);
- Students in a NAAB accredited IPAL program may apply.
