Deadline: 15 July 2024
The Khyentse Foundation is currently accepting applications for the Buddhist Studies Scholarships to support individuals who wish to study the dharma.
Buddhist Studies Scholarships are open to the public and aim to support students who are enrolled or plan to enroll in a Buddhist Studies program. Khyentse Foundation scholarships are awarded for one-year terms. Scholarship recipients may apply each year for continuing support for longer-term studies.
Scholarship award amounts depend on the scope of the proposal. Full funding of proposals is not always possible and partial funding may be offered to some applicants. KF is able to offer scholarships because of the generosity of their donors. Please keep this in mind and request only what you need for your dharma activity.
Funding Information
- Buddhist Studies Scholarship awards are usually in the $500 to $5,000 USD range. Awards may be more depending on the proposal.
Eligibility Criteria
- KF accepts applications from students, practitioners, and scholars from all traditions, schools, and sects of Buddhism. These scholarships fund tuition or other expenses related to one’s studies. Applicants for this scholarship are usually working toward a BA, MA, or MPhil degree, or are in a certificate program.
- Students applying for funding to attend Rangjung Yeshe Institute (RYI) in Nepal must apply directly to RYI. KF gives RYI an annual grant to use for financial aid for ordained sangha, lay students, and work-study participants.
Ineligibility Criteria
- Your application will not be considered if:
- Your application is written by AI. They want to know about you and your aspirations, practice and studies. Please do not use OpenAI, ChatGPT or any AI program to write your application. If they suspect your essays are written by AI, your application will be rejected. A sincere application means more than a well-written one.
- Your application is not related to Buddhism or Buddhist activity.
- You have already applied for a scholarship or grant in this round.
- You are applying for PhD support. PhD candidates should complete the PhD Scholarship application.
- You are applying for studies at Rangjung Yeshe Institute (RYI) in Nepal. Applicants must apply directly to RYI. KF gives RYI an annual grant to be used for financial aid for ordained sangha, lay students, and work-study participants.
