Barranquilla Young Leaders Scholarship Program – Colombia

The new cohort of leaders will be selected on the basis of their commitment to positive change and impactful initiatives. Throughout the year, they will participate in various development opportunities, including the One Young World One Young World 2023 Summit in Belfast. With this approach, the city of Barranquilla, Lean Solutions Group and Nuestra Barranquilla will collaborate with One Young World to support their current strategic objectives and continue to promote the work of young, innovative leaders in Barranquilla.

• Social development, inclusion of migrant populations, youth leadership, social innovation, projects with differential approach.

What does the scholarship provide?

• Access to the One Young World Summit 2023 in Belfast
• Lifetime membership to the OYW community
• Hotel accommodation between 2–5 (inclusive) October 2023 for the Summit
• One night of hotel accommodation (if required) for the visa application process
• Additional night on the 1st of October pre-summit
• The cost of travel to and from Belfast (flights in economy)
• Domestic travel costs to the airport to take the international flight (flight in economy)
• Travel to the visa application process (if required)
• Visa costs, if applicable (including visa costs and required travel for visa appointment)
• Catering which includes breakfast at the hotel accommodation and, lunch and dinner at the Summit
• Transport between the Summit accommodation and the Summit venue
• 7 days of daily expenses (£20 per day)
• Travel Insurance between 2 – 5 October 2023
• Translation services for the Opening Ceremony, Plenary Sessions and Closing Ceremony
• Post-Summit mentorship sessions Access to post-Summit development opportunities.

Who should apply?

• You should apply for this program if you:
  • You are between 18 and 30 years old
  • You live in the city of Barranquilla
  • You lead or are part of a social impact project where your contribution and leadership to the positive impact of the city is evident
  • You demonstrate leadership capacity
  • You have demonstrated your commitment to positive change
  • You have a good understanding of key local and global challenges
  • You have a track record of generating impactful and innovative ideas
  • You have the desire and are willing to commit to replicate the learnings from the fellowship and support the positive social impact projects of sponsoring partners
  • You are not registered as a candidate for any elected office for the elections of 29 October 2023
  • Submit a motivational video, no longer than 2 minutes, responding to the following:
