Variety Heart Scholarships are proudly presented by the Grahame Mapp Family Foundation in honour of the late Gillian Mapp.
Types of Variety Heart Scholarships
- Sports Scholarships
- Sports scholarships support talent in areas such as, but not limited to:
- Physical sports including ball sports, athletics, cycling, gymnastics, swimming and martial arts
- Motor sports including cars, bikes and boats
- Animal assisted including equestrian and canine
- Mind sports including board games, card games and e-sports
- Sports scholarships support talent in areas such as, but not limited to:
- Arts Scholarships
- Arts scholarships support talent in areas such as, but not limited to:
- Visual Arts including ceramics, drawing, painting, photography, filmmaking and game design/coding
- Performing Arts including dance, music and theatre
- Literary Arts including fiction, drama, poetry and prose
- Arts scholarships support talent in areas such as, but not limited to:
- Jack Eadon Equestrian Scholarship
- The Jack Eadon Variety Heart Equestrian Scholarship is designed to help fund the costs of competing in equestrian events, including the funding of equipment, training, and travel.
- This scholarship recognises and honours the success, talent, and impact of Jack Eadon in the equestrian community. As well as his equestrian achievements, Jack was known for his generosity and described as a true gentleman and a role model to riders of all ages.
Funding Information
- Scholarship applications can be made up to the value of $5,000 per application.
- Applicants can apply under one of the following funding categories (A or B)
- Funding option A – Financial hardship (maximum household gross income (excluding superannuation) of no greater than $90,000 per year); or
- Funding option B – Disability or Chronic Illness, child must have a diagnosis and maximum household gross income (excluding superannuation) of no greater than $130,000 per year.
- Duration: Scholarships are valid for 12 months from the date of the approval letter. All allocated funds must be spent within that period. Any unspent allocated funds will be rescinded.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must live in Victoria.
- Applications can only be accepted for children aged 8 to 17 years.
- Only one scholarship may be held by a child in any 12-month period.
- Applicants must have a demonstrated talent which has developed over time and can be identified by the child’s achievements and verified (in a support letter) by a professional in the area of talent.
Ineligible
- These are just some items which will not be considered:
- Ongoing funding repairs/maintenance of equipment
- Insurance or warrantycosts
- Retrospective funding (reimbursement of any monies paid before a scholarship has been approved)
- Public/private/tertiary schoolfees/tuition
- Therapies, medical, healthcosts.
