The World University Service of Canada – Ghana in partnership with Access Agriculture are championing the ACTIVATE Project which aims to improve the well-being and resilience of young women and men by strengthening an industry-led demand-driven Agriculture Technical and Vocational Education and Training system in Ghana.
Through the Entrepreneurs for Rural Access, the organisation is requesting young people to propose innovative ideas to make a business and which is opened to teams of up to 3 young people can submit a proposal (each team should have at least a female, with 2 people alumni and 1 person in still in school). These ERAs’ tasks are to reach out to women, persons living with disabilities or youth in their surrounding communities using the smart projectors. Over the course of five years, this program will respond to key challenges facing agriculture and adjacent sectors including:
- poor business skills among young people
- and insufficient entrepreneurship support to the diverse needs of agripreneurs.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants: Teams to be made up of 3 people (each team should have at least a female, with 2 people being alumni and 1 person still in school)
- Age: younger than 35 years
- Country: Ghana – recent graduate from ATVET, Farm Institutes and Agricultural Colleges.
Selection Criteria
- A committee of communication and development professionals will review and assess the proposals based on the novelty and strength of their business proposal in promoting agro-ecology and organic agriculture using the Access Agriculture Videos.
- A shortlist of pre-selected applicants will be developed by the committee.
- An online interview will be held with shortlisted applicants.
Application Requirements
- Teams of up to 3 people can submit a proposal
- Each person can only be part of one proposal
- Alternatively, you may submit a hard copy to the WUSC offices in either Tamale or Accra, should that be more convenient.
