The Asia New Zealand Foundation has launched its Research Grants to support contemporary and forward-thinking postgraduate and academic research projects or programmes relating to Asia.

- Regional and international trade
- Defence and security
- Cyber, technology and innovation
- Politics, public policy and urban development
- Environment and climate change,
- International relations,
- Law and diplomacy.
Funding Information
- Grants of up to $5,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or New Zealand permanent residents.
- Applicants should be emerging or early career researchers.
- Applications for retrospective funding will not be considered.
Application Requirements
- On completion of their research, successful applicants will provide:
- A financial report of relevant expenditure,
- A 700-1000-word article (with photos) relating to the research that may be published on their website.
- Proposals should include:
- Clear and sound research objectives and questions
- A clear case for why this research is timely and important, and how it contributes to what is currently known about a particular topic/area
- Anticipated outcomes and key outputs,
- A detailed budget for grant proceeds – setting out anticipated travel, accommodation, fieldwork and research expenses (tuition fees will not be covered).
- Applicants must indicate (briefly) the current state of research knowledge relating to their topic and how the proposal extends that knowledge.
- All sections of the research grants application form must be completed and the full supporting documentation attached.
- Incomplete application forms will not be considered.
