The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences is requesting applications for its Academy Ter Meulen Grant Programme to promote outstanding medical, biomedical, and biological research in pediatrics.

Funding Information
- The grant amounts to a maximum of €35,000 for a working visit abroad of a maximum of twelve months.
Eligible Activities
- The applicant can request the following funding:
- travel costs for one outward and one return journey (train ticket or economy class flight);
- accommodation costs abroad;
- living expenses, if the applicant demonstrably does not receive a salary and/or other financial contribution or income during the period abroad.
Eligibility Criteria
- Persons who are eligible to apply for a Ter Meulen Grant are:
- PhD-students or
- Researchers who have received their PhD no longer than four years ago. This period is subject to the Academy extension regulation.
- Applicants should be affiliated with a university or research institute in the Kingdom of the Netherlands during the activities financed by the Academy Ter Meulen Fund.
Assessment Criteria
- Assessment of applications for the grant will take place on the basis of the following assessment criteria:
- the scientific merits of the applicant, as evidenced by their CV;
- the quality of the scientific research envisaged during the working visit abroad, with particular attention being paid to:
- a clear research question;
- the relevance to the development of pediatrics or to a related field;
- the practicability of the working visit abroad within the specified time with the available resources and/or proceeds of the working visit;
- a clear budget with a breakdown of costs between the items of travel, accommodation, and, if applicable, living expenses.
Application Requirements
- Applications must be submitted in Dutch or English by e-mail, using the form provided by the Academy and accompanied by the requested attachments. An application will be considered to have been submitted when the person submitting it receives confirmation of receipt from the Academy.
- The application form with the requested attachments must be sent before the deadline set by the Academy. Applications that have not been submitted by that date will not be considered.
