The Health New Zealand has partnered with Rural Women New Zealand for a one-off opportunity to provide financial assistance to rural students of health studies.
The Study Grants will be awarded to rural students of medicine, dental, midwifery, nursing (including enrolled nurses and nurse practitioners) and the allied health workforce, who are enrolled in study with a recognised New Zealand tertiary provider.
Applicants are required to be from rural or regional communities. Particular consideration will be given to students who are from the most remote rural communities (e.g. Rural 3) and from underrepresented populations in the healthcare workforce (e.g. Māori and Pasifika).
Funding Information
- Grants of between $2,500 and $5,000 will be awarded. This is a one-off opportunity.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria outlined below.
- Applicants are required to be New Zealand Citizens.
- Two written character references are required.
- Applications are open to students of medicine, dental, midwifery, nursing (including enrolled nurses and nurse practitioners) and the allied health workforce who are enrolled in study with a recognised New Zealand tertiary provider.
- Applicants must provide proof of enrolment in a relevant health qualification.
- Applicants who are studying less than full-time may be considered.
- Applicants must provide a report of their most recent academic results.
- Applicants must be from rural or regional communities classified as Rural 1, Rural 2, or Rural 3 by the Geographic Classification for Health.
- Applicants must not be eligible for, or currently receiving, any other funding from Health New Zealand, as at the time of application.
- Applicants must outline how their study will benefit healthcare offerings in rural communities.
