Space118 Art Foundation Fine Arts Grant Initiative (India)

Deadline: 31 March 2025

The Space118 is inviting applications for its Fine Arts Grant Initiative to support artists from all over India to apply for a production grant towards the realization of an ongoing or new project.

The grant includes two online mentorship sessions with an artist and an online review session with the jury. Aside from the grant bursary and mentorship sessions, the grantees are given the opportunity to show their works through an ‘Instalive Open Studio day,’ which will be available across Space118’s social media platforms.

Space118 aims to educate and expose emerging visual arts practitioners on various art forms, provide opportunities to those who have limited access to inter-disciplinary exchange programs and contribute towards their enrichment. Owing to the pandemic and keeping up with the changing times, they are now a Grant-Making Organization, still fervently motivated to provide opportunities to emerging artists!

Program Specifications

  • Icebreaker Sessions
    • Their Grant artists are asked to demonstrate their work and artistic practice during the Icebreaker Session. This session strives to bring these artists together with their contemporaries in order to explore new artistic possibilities and establish a support system and critical feedback network.
  • Mentorship Sessions
    • They have devised Online Mentorship Sessions to deepen the artist’s enrichment, where they invite renowned artists, curators, and art historians from the art community to serve as mentors. The goal of these Mentorship sessions is to provide one-on-one dialogue and critical feedback to the grantees. These discussions provide a platform for their Mentors to share their valuable insights, experiences, and knowledge with the grantees.
  • Social Media Outreach Platforms
    • Their Facebook and Instagram profiles as well as their newsletters provide updates on their grantees, their practices, and other ongoing events. They also have each grant artist take over their social media platforms for a week to give their audiences an insight into their creative process. Through these platforms, they are able to create awareness about their initiatives and engage with a global audience.
  • Online Jury Review Meet
    • They will conduct a Jury Review Meet for Grant Winners 2025-26, where the artists will present their works made during the grant period before the jury. The jury provides invaluable information and guidance to the artists during the meeting, which is beneficial for them.
  • InstaLive Open Studio Day via Instagram Live and Facebook
    • Space118 holds an InstaLive Open Studio Day via Instagram and Facebook, where the Grant Winners are able to share and present their ideas and research created during their grant term to friends, family, collectors, gallerists, and the general public. By going online, they break all physical, geographical and other barriers in viewing art.
