Solidarity Fund for Artists and Cultural Organizations in Africa

Funding Information

• The maximum budget granted by the ACF is 5,000 (Five thousand) Euros maximum.
• Financing covers a period of between 6 months minimum and 12 months maximum.

Eligible Projects

• The Solidarity Fund for Artists and Cultural Organizations call for projects supports two main categories:
  • Category 1: Support for structuring
    • Projects for structuring cultural organizations, in the form of professional grants.
  • Category 2: Support for creation and production
    • Projects for artistic creation or innovation, skills development adapted to the local context.

Geographical Focus 

• This call covers all countries on the African continent.

Eligibility Criteria

• Individual artists
  • Candidates must:
    • Be professional artists residing and practicing in Africa;
    • Have at least five (05) years of experience;
    • Present a project for skills development, creation or artistic production.
• Cultural organizations
  • Candidate structures must:
    • Be legally constituted and established in Africa;
    • Provide proof of at least three (03) years of activity;
    • Have operational premises in an African country;
    • Present a structuring project that meets the objectives of the call.

Ineligibility Criteria

• Members of the ACF Board of Directors, their partners or family members;
• ACF staff and their loved ones;
• The members of the current year’s awards committee.

Evaluation Criteria

• Originality, innovation and creativity of the project;
• Technical quality of the file;
• Financial viability of the project;
• Relevance and sustainability in the African context.

Application Requirements

• Individual artists
  • Required documents:
    • A copy of the artist card or any equivalent document;
    • An artistic file (maximum 3 pages) including biography, career, artistic approach and overview of the works;
    • A letter of recommendation from a recognized industry figure.
• Cultural organizations
  • Required documents:
    • A copy of the legal document creating the organization;
    • A summary presentation (3 pages max.) of the organization’s journey and achievements;
    • Provide the biography of the head of the organization and the organizational chart of the structure;
    • Provide the organization’s latest activity report (narrative and financial);
    • A letter of recommendation from a recognized personality in the sector;
    • A detailed project: support for structuring or artistic creation/innovation project.
