Small Grant Program for Local Coding Projects within the EU Code Week Initiative – Croatia and Slovenia

Are you ready to realize your innovative coding project or expand your existing initiative? The Code4Europe project consortium has established a small grants program to encourage local projects proposing activities that are strongly linked to the priorities of EU Code Week.

As a consortium member and regional hub coordinator for the EU Code Week initiative in Croatia and Slovenia, invites you to apply for small grants to support key activities in digital education, coding and computational thinking.

Purpose

  • The purpose of this call is to identify and support significant local coding projects aligned with the mission of EU Code Week in promoting coding, computational thinking and digital skills across Europe.

Objectives

  • Development of innovative and scalable coding activities.
  • Support initiatives that integrate coding into education and encourage engagement.
  • Community involvement and promotion of collaboration among stakeholders.
  • Priority consideration of projects that reduce the gender gap and promote diversity in STEM education.
  • Improving digital skills for young people, especially girls.

Funding Information

  • Grants will be awarded to at least 3 successful applicants in an individual amount of up to a maximum of 1000 euros in two countries (Croatia and Slovenia).
  • Maximum amount of financial support that can be paid to a third party (Maximum grant 10,000 EUR).

Eligible Activities

  • All types of activities aimed at developing innovative and scalable coding, computational thinking and digital skills across Europe:
    • Coding Workshops: Organizing local educational workshops for students and teachers with the aim of teaching programming and computational thinking.
    • Hackathons and competitions: Events that encourage innovative thinking and teamwork through problem-solving using coding.
    • Development of digital teaching materials: Creating educational resources such as guides, video lessons, or interactive tools for learning to code.
    • STEM projects in schools: Implementation of projects that they combine coding with robotics, artificial intelligence, and other STEM fields.
    • Public campaigns and events: Promotion of digital skills through lectures, panel discussions and other forms of public engagement.
    • Online education and webinars: Virtual lectures and courses for teachers, students, and the general public on programming and digital literacy.
    • Collaborative projects: Partnerships between schools, non-governmental organizations and technology companies to develop innovative solutions in digital education.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The following have the right to apply:
    • Educational institutions
    • Libraries
    • Non-governmental organizations, associations and foundations that are engaged in education, promoting digital skills, with an emphasis on coding and computational thinking. They are considered with the following activities: educational, scientific, technical, informational and vocational.
    • Non-profit organizations: Centers, associations and clubs that encourage innovation and creativity in technology, specialize in coding and computational thinking, or support access to STEM education.

Ineligibility Criteria

  • The following project ideas are excluded from funding:
    • Projects that only benefit individuals
    • Projects that are not substantively related to EU Code Week
    • Projects/events that do not serve the common good
    • Incomplete applications that do not contain the required documents
    • The project is not taking place in the Republic of Croatia or the Republic of Slovenia.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Proposals will be evaluated according to criteria such as the quality of the application, alignment with the priorities and objectives of the EU Code Week initiative, educational value, quality of the project proposal, and project sustainability.
