The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is inviting applications for its Short Term Conference and Travel Grant for Graduate students (Master and PhD), academics and researchers based in Armenia, under 35 years old, wishing to attend international seminars, conferences, short term courses and research trips, related to their research field, abroad.
The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is awarding short term scholarships to enable qualified students, early-career academics and researchers based in Armenia to participate in international conferences, seminars, short term courses and research trips, related to their research field, abroad. The objective of the programme is to encourage academic interaction and exchange of knowledge and ideas.
Scholarships are awarded mostly for short term travels. In rare cases, longer research/study trips will be considered, for up to three months. The programme is open to all research fields. This year they will continue to privilege applications from the humanities and the social sciences but will also privilege research related to environmental sustainability and climate change. Applications are welcomed at any time of the year, no sooner than six months and no later than two month, before forthcoming events.

- Europe (EU and neighbouring countries): Up to 1,000 €
- Americas (USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, etc.): Up to 1,200 €
- Middle East and East Asia (Turkey, Lebanon, Israel, etc.): Up to 800 €
- Ex-USSR countries (excluding Baltic Republics): Up to 700 €
- Far East (China, South Korea, India, Japan, Australia, etc.): Up to 1,500 €
- Going to Armenia from abroad: Up to 1,000 €
Eligibility Criteria
- Be studying/based in Armenia
- Be under 35 years old at the time of the application
- Be a Master or PhD degree student or a researcher from Armenia, wishing to attend international conferences, seminars, short term courses, research trips related to his/her research field.
Application Requirements
- A copy of the candidate’s passport, ID or Citizen Card (main page with personal data).
- Attested copies of university certificates in Armenian, English or French.
- A full curriculum vitae including list of publications (if any) and conference presentations (if any).
- If applying to participate in a conference: title and abstract of the paper accepted for presentation.
- If applying for a research trip: research proposal (max. 5 pages) describing the research problem, the framework of the research, a description of the way in which the problem will be approached and the proposed research methodology, the scientific scope, a prospective timeline, as well as the theoretical and empirical sources used.
- Letter of acceptance by conference/seminar organisers/host university. – Motivation letter explaining why conference/seminar/ short term course/research trip is relevant to applicant’s professional development.
- Letter of support from supervisor(s). They may ask for additional references.
