Deadline: 12 May 2024
Salt and the BBVA Foundation are pleased to announce the Salt Artistic Research and Production Grant Program, geared towards artists from Türkiye who investigate contemporary social questions through interdisciplinary methodologies.
This two-year grant program will provide a dynamic space for artistic research and production, encouraging robust engagement between creative practitioners and their communities across the region. This year’s grants will support two works at the intersection of art, technology, and ecology and are open to creative practitioners from various disciplines, including visual arts, curatorial practices, design, film, video, and performance.
Grant Types
- The Artistic Research Grant will facilitate in-depth artistic research, focusing on contemporary art and design, technology, and ecology. The use of Salt Research’s archival resources is encouraged for this research grant.
- The Production Grant will support an artistic production responsive to the dynamic, diverse, and evolving nature of the moving image. The scope of this grant includes traditional or expanded forms of storytelling, visual expression, and performance using film, cinema, and new media.
Funding Information
- Each project will receive funding support of 20,000 EUR (all grants are subject to the withholdings and other taxes stipulated by current legislation, which will be deducted from the corresponding monetary amount) to cover their part of the production costs.
- Additionally, the program will fund a two-week residency in Spain and the opportunity to show the work or body of work the artists have produced as a result of the grant in Türkiye and Spain.
- Both projects will need to be completed by the end of March 2025.
Eligibility Criteria
- All applicants must apply in English, be based in or from Türkiye.
- The selection committee will select two candidates based on the artistic quality of their work, their proposed project idea and potential of realization, and the relevance of their practice to the cultural context of Salt and BBVA Foundation.
- The selected candidates will be informed of the jury’s decision by e-mail in early June 2024.
- In addition to the above, the selected artists will be supported in the exhibition phase in 2025, and both institutions in Türkiye and Spain will cover additional costs for the presentation in line with the work or body of works they have produced as a result of the grant.
