The BBVA Foundation is requesting proposals for its Salt Artistic Research and Production Grant Program to support artists and researchers working across diverse media and methodologies in art, architecture, design, social and urban studies.
Grant Categories
- The program offers two types of grants:
- Artistic Research Grant: The Artistic Research Grant supports an interdisciplinary research project addressing contemporary topics, particularly concerning societal and environmental issues. Applicants for the Artistic Research Grant are encouraged to:
- Focus on critical and timely issues at the intersection of art and design, technology, and ecology.
- Pursue an interdisciplinary and experimental approach to address pressing issues in the field of artistic research.
- Utilize archival resources at Salt Research.
- Explore innovative ways of presenting an artistic research project.
- Production Grant: The Production Grant supports an artistic project that engages with the moving image’s dynamic, diverse, and evolving nature and responds to contemporary societal and environmental issues. Applicants for the Production Grant are encouraged to:
- Focus on critical and timely issues at the intersection of art and design, technology, and ecology.
- Pursue an interdisciplinary and experimental approach to explore novel forms of storytelling, visual expression, and performance across film, cinema, and/or new media.
- Artistic Research Grant: The Artistic Research Grant supports an interdisciplinary research project addressing contemporary topics, particularly concerning societal and environmental issues. Applicants for the Artistic Research Grant are encouraged to:
Benefits
- The program will cover an optional 7-14 day visit to Madrid, Spain, and additional costs to exhibit the research outcomes and body of works produced within the scope of the grant program in Türkiye.
Funding Information
- Each artist selected will receive a grant of 20,000 EUR.
Eligibility Criteria
- All applicants must apply in English, be based in or from Türkiye, and have a Google account to submit their application via a Google Form.
- Both individual artists and artist groups can apply; however, the grant amount is the same for groups as it is for individuals. For artist groups, the applicant whose name is provided as a contact will be considered responsible for the project.
- Only applications submitted through the online application form will be reviewed.
Ineligibility Criteria
- Institutions are ineligible to apply.
Selection Criteria
- The selection committee will choose two artist projects—one for the Artistic Research Grant and one for the Production Grant—based on the artistic quality of their work, their proposed project idea and potential of realization, and the relevance of their practice to the cultural context of Salt and BBVA Foundation.
Application Requirements
- A CV (in English, a maximum of four pages in PDF format)
- A cover letter detailing the project, including artistic research or production-based ideas to be developed during the grant period (in English, a maximum of four pages in PDF format)
- A portfolio (in English, a maximum of ten pages in PDF format)
