The Asia New Zealand Foundation has announced its Foundation Research Grant Program to support contemporary and forward-thinking postgraduate and academic research projects or programmes relating to Asia.
Key Focus Areas
- They are looking for research projects that help grow New Zealand’s understanding of Asia in key policy areas, such as:
- regional and international trade
- international law
- defence/security
- cyber, technology and innovation
- environment
- international relations and diplomacy.
Funding Information
- The Foundation invites applications for grants up to the value of $3000.
Ineligible Funding
- The Foundation will not cover:
- personal spending and purchase of souvenirs or gifts
- purchase of equipment such as laptops, cameras, mobile phones, etc
- payment to sub-contractors to deliver on the project without prior agreement with the Foundation
- postage or freight of materials and property
- excess baggage
- sightseeing or other leisure activities outside the agreed programme
- phone calls, mobile data, and Wi-fi
- hotel minibar and other additional charges
- private hosting or socialising costs
- accommodation, transport, and other costs outside the Agreement to Provide Funding
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or New Zealand permanent residents.
- Applications for retrospective funding will not be considered.
- Proposals should include:
- clear and sound research questions and arguments
- anticipated outcomes and key outputs
- a detailed budget for grant proceeds – setting out anticipated travel, accommodation, fieldwork and research expenses (tuition fees will not be covered).
