Request for Proposals: Arts Projects (Research/Practice) – India

Turn Bangalore into a stage, a canvas, a notebook or a digital courtyard! Tap into its varied voices, spaces, histories, memories, aspirations, and expressions. India Foundation for the Arts (IFA) invites proposals for Arts Projects (Research/Practice) under Project 560.

IFA seeks to implement Arts Projects (Research/Practice) on Bangalore that critically engage with the city’s pasts, presents, and futures. Collaborative projects that bring together artists and scholars are also encouraged. Outcomes of the projects could variously include performances, exhibitions, installations, films, research papers/monographs or interdisciplinary works. The presentation of these outcomes must be public and in physical format, with virtual elements in part, if necessary. (They do not encourage only virtual presentations.)

Funding Information

• Budget: Up to a maximum of Rs 4 lakh
• Duration of the project: Up to 12 months

Who can send project proposals?

• Arts practitioners and researchers/scholars can apply. As practitioners, you could be writers, poets, performing/performance artists, visual artists, filmmakers, new media, and digital artists, or practitioners engaged in interdisciplinary work. Applicants must be based in Bangalore and the project has to be undertaken in Bangalore.

Eligibility Criteria

• You are eligible to apply only if you are an Indian citizen. Your collaborators too must be Indian citizens.
• The criteria for eligibility to apply under these programmes are as follows:
  • Only Indian nationals can apply. This does not include PIO (Persons of Indian Origin) and OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) Card Holders.
  • Applicants must have PAN card and one of the following for proof of identity and citizenship – Indian Passport or Aadhar Card or Voter’s ID in India.
  • Only individuals can apply. Organisations of any kind cannot apply (except for non-profit schools, who can only apply under the Arts-Integrated Projects in Schools category of the Arts Education programme).
  • If there are collaborators in the projects, they must also be Indian nationals.
  • Persons who have a past history of financial delinquency with IFA are not eligible.
  • Persons who have failed to deposit at IFA agreed deliverables from an earlier IFA grant are not eligible.
  • Persons who have previously received a letter from IFA disallowing them from applying in the future for any reason are not eligible.
  • Persons currently working on a project implemented by IFA are not eligible to apply.
  • More than one individual can apply if they have a joint account. If they do not, then only one among them should apply with the others as collaborators.
