The Dutch Film Fund is pleased to announce its Development Oasis scheme for research and development of a film idea for a long documentary with cinematographic quality.
Funding Information
- €8,000 for the research and development of a treatment.
Eligibility Criteria
- An independent director, not affiliated with a broadcaster, can submit a request for idea development for a long documentary.
- The director must have at least:
- Two documentaries of at least 50 minutes to his/her/their name that have been released in Dutch cinemas and/or film theaters for a paying audience and/or broadcast on national television; and
- One long documentary (minimum 70 minutes) made that was released nationwide in Dutch cinemas and/or film theaters for a paying audience and/or broadcast on national television.
- Space is also offered to directors who meet the first requirement but not yet the second, if at least one of their previous documentaries has been selected for an international film festival competition or has won a relevant prize for (documentary) directing.
Application Requirements
- A director can submit one application per round. If the application is approved, this project must first be completed before a new application can be submitted under Oase. The director cannot submit an application if a contribution from (one of) both funds has already been received for the project in question.
- An application includes:
- A film plan (maximum four A4 pages) with:
- A description of the subject and the dramatic development
- A clear explanation of style and form
- A sound motivation and a directorial vision
- An estimate of the costs for which the contribution is requested, with accompanying explanation
- A CV/filmography of the director and any collaborators (maximum two A4 pages and including address, telephone number and e-mail address). The lengths, broadcaster and/or cinema circulation of the documentaries mentioned must be indicated.
