The Oppenheimer Memorial Trust is inviting grant applications which are intended specifically for full-time academics undertaking sabbatical study either locally or internationally to further their current research, pursue new ideas or enhance teaching.
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must demonstrate a proven record of teaching and research excellence and be based at a South African higher education institution. Preference will be given to academics demonstrating innovative research with relevance to South Africa and the potential to be recognised globally. They encourage applications from all disciplines. Awards are made bi-annually.
Application Requirements

- An up-to-date CV (not more than three pages) that includes:
- A synopsis of your top 2 or 3 publications
- A listing of all publications, notably in peer-reviewed journals (as an annexure)
- A recent professional photograph (3x4cm)
- Please fill in details regarding:
- Research & publications, supervision of students and academic positions history. Please summarise that below:
- Publication record (local/international)
- Conference presentations
- Supervision of students, including those in progress (number and level)
- Academic positions held
- Academic and research awards history
- Please detail (award, year and amount) any previous scholarships, awards, postdoctoral fellowships, or research grants won
- NRF rating (if applicable).
