The Nordic Board for Wildlife Research welcomes applications across all disciplines that are relevant to wildlife research. The application must include collaboration between/participants from at least two participating NKV-countries (Norway, Sweden, Iceland, France).
The aim of the call is to further improve the collaboration within the participating states in establishing research that will serve as a basis for conservation and sustainable use of wildlife. In agreement with NKVs mandate, this can be achieved by a strong emphasis on the continuous improvement of research quality and quantity, and the dissemination of knowledge both within the scientific and general communities. The call launched by the NKV will serve as a tool to achieve the mandate.
Topics
- The grant schemes will include all topics that are included under the umbrella term “wildlife research. Wildlife research, as defined here, aims to provide the scientific basis for the conservation and management of wildlife and human-wildlife relationships. They adopt a broad concept of wildlife management, including policies and actions with the purpose of conservation, sustainable use or control of wildlife and its habitats. Priority will be given to projects covering/encompassing several participating countries.
Priority
- Priority will be given to projects that clearly demonstrate how the project will improve collaboration in wildlife research in the Nordic region. Activities led by or beneficial for early career researchers and students will also be given high priority.
Funding Information
- The total budget for the second 2024 call is 70.000 Euros. The maximum amount to apply for each project is 20.000 Euros.
- The grants will not cover salary for the participants, but can cover travel expenses, per diem and other operating costs as specified.
- Maximum duration of each project is 36 months.
Eligible Activities
- Within the field of wildlife research, NKV will support the following activities:
- Workshops (organization or attendance)
- Symposia (organization or attendance)
- Visits to researchers in other countries
- Networks and networking activity
- Scientific courses
Eligibility Criteria
- The following criteria applies:
- The project leader should either be a researcher affiliated with a university or research institute OR a student enrolled in a university, in one of the participating NKV-countries (Norway, Sweden, Iceland, France)
- A project can include participation by people from other countries, if the event is hosted by a participating country (e.g. a workshop in Sweden with participants from outside Europe)
- Both PhD students and MSc students can apply for funding in the students category
- The application must include collaboration between/participants from at least two participating NKV-countries.
Selection Criteria
- The decisions should be made during a formal meeting of the NKV Board. All board members should approve the selected applications. A written decision letter should be sent to all applicants, successful or not.
