Deadline: 31 March 2025
The Artangel Trust is inviting artists based anywhere in the world to submit their most daring ideas for its Artangel Initiative.
Artangel gives form to bold ideas that can manifest in any medium, including but not limited to visual art, moving image, photography, choreography, dance, music, and digital works.
Funding Information
- Each shortlisted idea/artist will receive a fee of £2000 to work up their proposal in time for the interview with the panel in September.
Eligibility Criteria
- They welcome submissions from people for whom English is not their first language. Where this is stated on the submission, they can assure applicants that their submission will be judged on the quality of creative proposal, not on the proficiency of language skills.
- Applicants can be based anywhere in the world, and their project can manifest online, in the UK or internationally. If of particular relevance, please ensure a clear articulation of the link between your idea and the proposed location where the idea manifests.
- Applicants must not be in full-time education.
- Applicants must be over 18.
Ineligibility Criteria
- Current Artangel team members, direct family members of Artangel employees and those of the panel are not eligible to apply.
- Artists previously commissioned by Artangel, including those commissioned in previous Artangel Opens, are not eligible to apply.
Evaluation Criteria
- The panel will evaluate the submitted ideas against the following criteria:
- The idea is compelling and innovative.
- The project is of an ambition comparable to past Artangel commissions.
- The idea can be realised in the UK or internationally, or online.
Application Requirements
- Projects must be entirely your own work. Any other creative works, including those out of legal copyright, that are referenced or quoted in your submission must be clearly credited.
- Submissions must be written in English.
- Applicants not confident writing in English may wish to source an English translator via their network or by using an online tool such as Google Translate, ChatGPT or DeepL to prepare their submission.
