Deadline: 23 March 2025
The Kingdom of the Netherlands in Brazil is inviting applications for its Cultural Connections Initiative to facilitate international cooperation between the Netherlands and Brazil in the cultural field.
The Embassy and Consulates General of the Netherlands invite cultural institutions, artists, cultural professionals, producers and collectives to submit proposals aimed at fostering cultural exchange between the two countries.
Objectives
- Projects and grants must contribute to the objectives listed in the international cultural policy framework 2025-2028 of the Kingdom of the Netherlands:
- A strong international positioning for the Dutch cultural sector through lasting cooperation, exchanges and visibility.
- Support bilateral relations through cultural projects.
- Harness the power of the cultural and creative sector to promote sustainable development.
Funding Information
- The Embassy and the Consulates General of the Netherlands may fund between BRL 10,000 and BRL 50,000.
Eligible Expenses
- Expenses that are eligible for support are transportation, travel, accommodation and marketing. The proposal needs to specify the travel and accommodation dates.
- They encourage arts organisations to invite Netherlands based artists over for longer than just one performance or merely the opening of an exhibition.
- Funding requests can include an extended stay for Dutch creatives which enables them to participate in a public programme or build stronger connections with international art and design professionals and/or the general public.
Ineligible Expenses
- Expenses that are not eligible for support are overhead costs (staff salaries, rent, office supplies) of the organisation.
- The fees for the artists/designers from the Netherlands are also not eligible for support.
Eligibility Criteria
- Project proposals must involve at least one Brazilian partner and one Dutch partner each with a clearly defined role within the project.
- Cultural projects should highlight Dutch culture and/or promote cultural exchange between Dutch culture and Brazilian culture. A clear cultural component is a must.
- They consider the following fields as culture and potentially subsidisable:
- architecture,
- visual arts,
- design,
- new media,
- audiovisual & film,
- literature,
- performing arts,
- game design,
- digital art,
- fashion, and
- interdisciplinary forms.
- Workshops, residencies, knowledge exchange, capacity building and visitors programmes in the cultural and creative sector can also potentially be supported.
- It is not possible to support (mainly or purely) scientific, public relations-focused or commercial activities.
- Activities must take place in Brazil.
- Digital, in-person, and hybrid projects will be accepted.
- The project must begin after 1 May 2025 and last until no later than 31 December 2025. Projects that have already begun before the acceptance of the proposal by the Netherlands are only eligible if the requested funding is for new activities within the scope of the ongoing project.
