The U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan with its Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation awards grants for the preservation of cultural sites, cultural objects and collections, and forms of traditional cultural expression, such as music, dance, and language in more than 130 countries around the world.
Administered by the Cultural Heritage Center, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, U.S. Department of State, the AFCP offers the United States a meaningful opportunity to show its respect for the cultural heritage of other countries.
Funding Information
- Award Amount Range: $25,000 – $500,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- AFCP-supported projects include the restoration of ancient and historic buildings, assessment and conservation of rare manuscripts and museum collections, preservation and protection of important archaeological sites, and the documentation of vanishing traditional craft techniques and indigenous languages.
Application Requirements
- Include the CVs of the proposed project director and key project participants that demonstrate that the applying entity has the requisite experience and capacity to manage projects to preserve cultural heritage.
- Eligible implementers may include non-governmental organizations, museums, educational institutions, ministries of culture, or similar institutions and organizations, including U.S.-based educational institutions and organizations.
- The AFCP will not award grants to individuals, commercial entities, or past award recipients that have not fulfilled the objectives or reporting requirements of previous awards.
