The Ministry of Culture has announced its María Moliner Reading Promotion Project Competition to encourage reading promotion projects in municipalities with fewer than 50,000 inhabitants by organizing a contest in which up to 370 selected projects will receive a cash prize to purchase lots of books.
Functions
- Collaboration with the General Directorate of Books, Comics and Reading in the preparation of the call for proposals and in its processing.
- Publicizing the competition through its website and other media.
- Advising city councils on submitting applications and any other aspects of the process for which they may require support.
- Support to the Directorate General for Books, Comics, and Reading in the review and processing of the correction phase of applications, if the FEMP’s collaboration is required by the aforementioned Directorate General under the terms set forth in Clause Four of the agreement.
- Participation in the selection of projects within the Evaluation Committee.
Funding Information
- The total amount of the call for proposals is €1,100,000. The ten libraries with the highest scores will receive a prize of €10,000. The next 360 projects in order of score will each receive a prize of €2,777.77.
Eligibility Criteria
- Municipalities with fewer than 50,000 inhabitants that have a public library are eligible for this call. Smaller local entities may also submit their own projects, provided they have their own municipal council and the municipality to which they belong has fewer than 50,000 inhabitants. These requirements must be met by the date the application is submitted.
- Each municipality may submit a single project that brings together all the programming of reading promotion activities, which may be carried out in Spanish or in any of the other languages legally recognized in the Statute of Autonomy of their respective Autonomous Community, with special attention to groups with difficulties. accessing reading.
- The project presented must be unique and comprehensive, including the activities carried out with the different groups, the entities that collaborate with the library, the actions for the social integration of the library in its community, the participation of the neighbors, as well as the dissemination of activities.
- The activities to be included refer only to those carried out from June 2, 2024, until the date of publication of the extract of this call in the Official State Gazette.
- The centers for which the award is requested must be included in the Directory of Spanish Libraries and be active at the time of publication of this call.
- Entities that incur in any of the prohibitions provided for in article 13 of Law 38/2003, of November 17, will not be able to obtain the status of beneficiaries.
Application Requirements
- The following documentation must be submitted to the Electronic Office:
- Responsible declaration of not being subject to any cause of incompatibility or prohibition to obtain subsidies or having outstanding reimbursement obligations.
- Declaration of responsibility signed by the beneficiary stating that he/she is up to date with his/her tax and Social Security obligations.
- Explanatory report on the library’s reading promotion activities from June 2, 2024, until the date of publication of the abstract for this call for proposals, using the template available on the website, with a maximum of 15 pages.
- Communication of the bank account for the collection of the validated and sealed subsidy by the corresponding banking entity and signed by the interested party.
- NIF. Tax identification document issued by the tax agency with CSV.
