Joint Egyptian Japanese Scientific Cooperation – Workshop and Seminar

In addition, the program will promote exchange visits between Egyptian and Japanese scientists and will support the coordination of joint seminars laying the ground for a longer-term relationship. This call for proposals supports:

• Joint research projects;
• Joint seminars.

Funding Information

• STDF will provide funding of up to 450,000 Egyptian Pounds per seminar/workshop to the Egyptian team, and JSPS will provide up to JPY 1,500,000 per seminar/workshop to the Japanese team.
• Duration of each Seminar/workshop should not exceed one week.
• Seminars will be held in the period between 1 June 2026 and 31 March 2027.

Eligibility Criteria

• Teams of participants consisting of both Egyptian and Japanese scientists and stakeholders are eligible for funding.
• Teams have to be based at Egyptian or Japanese research organizations/commercial enterprises and scientists should be working in their home countries.
• Egyptian state and private institutions of higher education, research institutions or commercial enterprises including SMEs are eligible for funding.
• Eligibility for Japanese researchers.

Evaluation Criteria

• Scientific excellence
• Necessity of cooperation, added value, and mutual research advancement through transfer of knowledge and expertise
• Participation of young researchers
• How the results of the seminar will be utilized to foster further cooperation

  • Cover Page
  • CVs of all Egyptian and Japanese research team members (all in one readable PDF file)
  • Scanned copy of the Institutional Endorsement letter (signed and stamped by the legal representative -president- of the University/Research center and states that the proposal idea was not funded by another agency, national or international)
  • Acknowledgement form should be signed & stamped by the president of the Egyptian PI’s institution (university/research centers) and the PI of the project
  • A copy of the PhD degree
