The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is accepting grant applications to support postgraduate courses offering solid technical and scientific training in clinical and translational research areas that are relevant to the national or regional context and priorities.
Examples include: foundations of research and clinical trials, scientific evidence in clinical practice, pharmacology and drug development, disease control and applied research, innovation and technology in clinical research, development of clinical protocols, and pharmacovigilance.
Goals
- This regulation establishes the rules for the allocation of support within the scope of the Competition, aimed at carrying out postgraduate courses – 1st editions or others – in areas of health and biomedical sciences, with the main objective of contributing to the development of clinical research in the PALOP.
- The Competition aims to support courses that:
- Offer quality technical and scientific training, enabling researchers and health professionals to respond to priority challenges in clinical research;
- Contribute to improving the quality of clinical practice, through the continuous updating of knowledge and the application of rigorous research methodologies.
Funding Information
- The support to be granted by the FCG for the implementation of each course will be a maximum of 30,000 (thirty thousand Euros), and may not exceed 85% of the total funding foreseen for the Course.
- A maximum of 6 (six) applications will be approved.
- Courses should provide clear specialisation in a specific area and have a minimum duration of 180 hours (one academic semester).
Eligibility Criteria
- Higher education institutions in Portuguese-speaking African Countries (PALOP), public or private non-profit, that have been teaching for at least 10 years and have a teaching department in the area of Medicine or Health Sciences, hereinafter referred to as proposing institutions, are eligible for this Competition.
- Proposing institutions may submit applications individually or in association with another higher education institution, namely Portuguese.
Evaluation Criteria
- Analysis of the course curriculum
- Curriculum of the course’s teaching team
- Articulation of the course with the rest of the training offered by the proposing institution and its suitability to the country’s context and national training needs
- Provision of complementary curricular enrichment activities to classroom training
Application Requirements
- The application proposal includes, among others, the following elements:
- Name of the institution proposing and responsible for the course;
- Characterization of the proposing institution;
- Course curriculum plan;
- Teaching staff CV;
- Partner entity involved (if applicable);
- Budget proposal;
- Relevance and expected impact.
