Applications are now open for a funding opportunity for research into the pathobiology of hematological cancers with an aim to advanced treatment.
The Funds Catharina Weekers, Raymond Wuyts, Gezusters Loosveld, Arlette Lemaitre, Yvette Gembauve and Luc Willemaers support medical research on cancer. The Funds are managed by the King Baudouin Foundation with the help of a scientific jury and a Steering Committee.
Funding Information
- A total amount of € 340,000 is available to support maximum two research projects for a period of 2 years.
- In case of insufficient high-quality projects, the jury and the Steering Committee reserve the right not to spend the full amount available.
- The grant will be made available in instalments conditional upon approval of the activity reports.
- The main applicant will be invited to present the final activity report to the jury and fund steering committee upon conclusion of the grant.
Eligibility Criteria
- Organizations
- The Foundation will only fund not-for-profit organizations. For-profit organizations (e.g. biopharmaceutical companies) can be part of a research team but are excluded from funding.
- Main applicant
- The call is open to junior post-doctoral researchers (maximum of 4 years active research following PhD thesis – with additional time for documented career breaks) embedded in Belgian academic scientific and/or clinical research team.
- Scientific support
- The team has an internationally accepted scientific expertise on hematologic cancers and guarantees the autonomous elaboration of the project by the recipient of the grant.
- Collaborations
- Collaborative projects are encouraged. Projects that involve collaboration of international research teams must be initiated and coordinated by the team based in Belgium.
