The Code4Europe initiative brings together European stakeholders related to digital skills, including the youth education sector, civil society, the digital industry and governments, to work together to introduce an innovative approach to improving digital skills among young Europeans.
The main aim of the Code4Europe project is to create a sustainable, scalable and effective educational initiative that will allow young people to acquire digital competences and find their place in the dynamically developing ICT industry.
EU Code Week organizes educational events that engage children and young people in learning coding and developing digital skills. Everyone can organize their own event or take part in reported activities.
Objectives
- Key objectives of EU Code Week EU Code Week activities should focus primarily on:
- promoting computational thinking and digital skills,
- developing competences such as problem-solving, creativity and logical thinking,
- encouraging young people to choose ICT careers,
- supporting digital transformation in education, industry, culture and civil society,
- paying special attention to equal opportunities, with a focus on engaging girls in coding and technology-related activities.
- Education of the future – STEAM, integration, equality EU Code Week can play a key role in:
- developing the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) educational model,
- supporting digital education by including coding in the school curriculum,
- providing digital resources for teachers and educators,
- building a digital society based on integration, equality and innovation,
- bridging the gender gap, through targeted initiatives aimed at engaging girls.
Funding Information
- The three best-rated projects will receive EUR 1,000.00 each, and the fourth — the seventh one will receive EUR 500.00 each.
Eligibility Criteria
- Entities eligible to submit an application:
- individuals, schools (preschool, primary and secondary education, high schools);
- libraries and institutional entities of a similar nature operating in a given area;
- non-governmental organizations (NGOs);
- private organizations (in any legal form, e.g. partnerships and corporations);
- coding clubs, CodeDojo and other associations specializing in coding and computational thinking.
