Catalyst Partnership Grants are a novel, collaborative way of funding innovative ideas and solutions to improve cardiovascular health in Australia. They are an exciting addition to their existing suite of grant and fellowship funding schemes.
Catalyst Partnership Grants provide the opportunity to connect innovators with investors and collaborate with their extensive network to help improve the heart health of all people in Australia.
Objectives and Outcomes
- The objectives of Catalyst Partnership Grants are to:
- bring teams together to deliver innovative and potentially transformational programs or activities that improve cardiovascular health in Australia;
- establish impactful programs of work and activities that endure beyond the life of the Catalyst Partnership Grant;
- contribute to addressing priority areas to improve heart health;
- develop relationships and build new networks with governments, industry and the private and non-profit sectors to address collaboratively contemporary topics in the prevention, diagnosis and management of cardiovascular disease and to support those with lived experience;
- offer new sectors in the Australian economy, and interested organizations opportunities to partner with the Heart Foundation to tackle the nation’s greatest burden of disease – cardiovascular disease;
- stimulate financial investors to collaborate and commit to supporting the proposal; and
- deliver outcomes in relation to the Heart Foundation’s strategic objectives and assist in the realisation of its 25-year vision.
Benefits
- The top 20 applicants (‘twenty of the best’) will receive support from the Heart Foundation to better equip them to translate their ideas into action and receive their support to secure future funding. This includes the opportunity to:
- Accelerate your idea to improve heart health
- Work with mentors and experts to help you get your proposal ‘showcase- ready’ with a compelling pitch deck to present to potential investors and partners.
- Identify and communicate the fundability and potential impact of your idea on heart health in Australia and beyond
- Receive expert input and advice to identify and articulate the potential impact of your idea. Experienced investment advisors will also provide you with guidance on prospective funding sources.
- Collaboration to get your idea off the ground
- The opportunity to present and pitch your idea at the showcase in front of a captive audience of potential investors and collaborators from across philanthropy, industry, venture capital, social impact, and government sectors. Receive guidance and feedback about your idea.
- Accelerate your idea to improve heart health
- The 10 awardees of a Catalyst Partnership Grant will then partner with the Heart Foundation receiving support with the opportunity to:
- Build your reputation and broaden your networks and connections
- Opportunity to connect to the Heart Foundation’s network of potential investors and collaborators from across philanthropy, industry, venture capital, social impact and government sectors.
- Partner with the Heart Foundation
- Access to explore options with you to use their strong, recognisable brand (and brand assets) and broader expertise and resources to help gain traction for your idea and project.
- Receive potential financial benefits
- Awarded $100,000 to accelerate your idea and help bring it to life.
- Attract prospective investors
- Work with the Heart Foundation team to help secure the further long-term, high-impact investment required to bring your idea to life, publicise your idea to a wider audience, and close evidence gaps by implementing your innovation.
- Build your reputation and broaden your networks and connections
Eligibility Criteria
- Basic Eligibility Requirements for Applicants Who Are Not Researchers
- Primary applicants who are not researchers, whether individuals or the organisation they represent or are employed by, must meet the following criteria:
- ABN Requirement: Hold an active and registered Australian Business Number (ABN).
- Location: Be primarily based in Australia.
- Risk Compliance: Receive clearance from the risk and due diligence reviews as part of the EOI and Full Application processes.
- Eligible organisations include: Individuals with an ABN and trading as a sole trader, legally registered entities under Australian law, such as an incorporated association, company limited by guarantee, charitable organisation, not-forprofit registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC), or a governmental statutory agency.
- Primary applicants who are not researchers, whether individuals or the organisation they represent or are employed by, must meet the following criteria:
- Researcher-Specific Eligibility Requirements
- Researchers applying for the Catalyst Partnership Grants must meet the following criteria:
- Chief Investigator A Status: The primary applicant will be designated as Chief Investigator A (CIA) on the proposal.
- Institutional Affiliation: Be affiliated with a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Administering Institution.
- If you are not affiliated with an NHRMC Administering Institution you will need to register in the Grants Management Portal via the Non-researcher option.
- Risk Compliance: Receive clearance from the risk and due diligence reviews as part of the EOI and Full Application processes.
- Researchers applying for the Catalyst Partnership Grants must meet the following criteria:
Ineligibility Criteria
- Catalyst Partnership Grants will not be provided to:
- Individuals without an ABN or not associated with a recognised administering institution.
- Endowment funds.
- Projects seeking retrospective funding.
- Projects with auspicing arrangements where the applicant is not the same entity submitting the proposal.
