The Ministry of Culture, through the Classical and Contemporary Dance Groups Grant Program seeks to fund dance activities, among other things, and expands the opportunities for artists to create and share artistic practices and enhances artistic diversity.
Dance is a vital expression of culture that has the ability to cultivate space for dialogue and reflection while raising awareness of serious social issues.
Aims
- This call aims to support the production of classical and contemporary dance, related festivals as well as activities such as workshops, symposia, lectures, educational programs about dance, participation in tours, international actions, events, etc., that can contribute to the development and promotion of the art of dance.
Funding Information
- The categories of amounts for which grant proposals can be submitted for this call are €15,000, €25,000 and €35,000. Specifically:
- For the amount of €15,000, the condition is that the organization or choreographer has carried out one professional dance production in the last 3 years (from 2022 to 2024). Organizations that have more productions to their credit, but are applying for a small amount, can also apply in this category
- For the amount of €25,000, the condition is that the organization or choreographer has carried out two professional dance productions in the last four years (from 2021 to 2024)
- For the amount of €35,000, the condition is that the organization or choreographer has carried out three professional dance productions in the last five years (from 2020 to 2024)
Ineligible Funding
- This invitation does not concern:
- Grant proposals to cover operating costs, equipment and building infrastructure.
- Proposals that are not related to the subject of modern culture (e.g. folk art and tradition, salsa, rumba, ballroom dance generally).
- Proposals that were not funded under previous grants invitations from the Ministry of Culture.
- Proposals which themselves or drafts thereof have already been presented to the public by the institution in Greece or abroad.
Eligibility Criteria
- Legal Entities of Private or Public Law of a non-profit nature, with cultural and/or charitable purposes (according to their statutes) that have been established up to 30/11/2024.
Evaluation Criteria
- The creative and aesthetic approach of the project.
- Strengthening the visibility and promotion of Greek choreographic creation and the Greek dance community.
- The experimental approach to the art of dance as a broad field of perception regarding the evolution of movement, dramaturgy, structure, style and the form.
- The technical perfection of the movement but also the development of the player’s motor perception improvisation of the groups.
- The educational dimension of actions and events.
- Promoting collaborations with artists and groups from Greece and the abroad.
