The Production Grants Program supports young artists and writers under the age of 35 from the Arab region, whether residing in the region or abroad, by offering grants in the fields of literature, visual arts, music and sound arts, performing arts, and cinema.
The program supports up to 25 projects annually, five in each artistic field, and has awarded nearly 400 grants to artists from the Arab region since its launch.
Focus Areas
- Performing Arts: Developing and producing theatre and dance performances, multidisciplinary projects, and other performing arts.
- Visual Arts: Development and production of artworks, exhibitions, installations, artist and illustrated books, as well as sculpture, engraving, photography, light shows, video art, virtual reality technologies, immersive and interactive art experiences, and/or interdisciplinary arts.
- Literature: Writing and publishing novels, memoirs, biographies, graphic novels, short stories, poetry collections, and theatrical scripts.
- Music and Sound Arts: Production and recording of music albums, experimental music/sound projects, sound installations, live concerts, and production of visuals accompanying music.
- Cinema: Production and post-production of short, feature, and medium-length narrative, documentary, experimental, and animated films.
Funding Information
- Performing Arts: The grant is worth up to €8,500.
- Visual Arts: The value of the grant is up to 8,500 euros.
- Literature: The grant is worth up to €6,500.
- Music and Sound Arts: The value of the grant is up to 8,500 euros.
- Cinema: The grant is worth up to €13,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants born between January 1990 and December 2009.
- Applicants from an Arab country (including citizens and non-citizens of all ethnicities), whether they live inside or outside the Arab region.
- Previous recipients of the program’s scholarship may reapply subject to the following conditions:
- The previous grant has been closed
- Two cycles must have passed since the previous grant, meaning that you can apply for the third cycle.
- An application must be submitted by:
- Film director in the field of cinema.
- Theatre director, show director, or choreographer, in the performing arts.
- Writer in the field of literature.
- Lead musician, lead performer, composer, vocal artist or producer who composes their own music, in the field of music and vocal arts.
- Lead artist or project curator, in the visual arts.
Application Requirements
- The application form must be completed in Arabic only, except for the fields that must be completed in English.
- All submitted documents must be in PDF, JPEG or PNG format.
- Incomplete applications or applications that do not include all required attachments and supporting documents will be excluded.
- Applicants cannot apply for support for more than one project in the same cycle.
- The maximum project completion period must not exceed 18 months from the date of signing the contract. Support recipients may request an extension, and the Cultural Resource reserves the right to accept or reject the request.
- The grant cannot be used to purchase equipment or devices.
- The grant must be disbursed in the Arab region and/or must benefit artists and resources from the Arab region.
- Applicants under the age of 18 must attach to their application:
- A copy of the birth certificate;
- A letter of consent signed by a parent or guardian;
- A copy of the parent/guardian’s ID/passport.
