The National Film and Video Foundation is seeking eligible applicants to submit public screening proposals for projects that aim to raise awareness of Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
These screenings must form part of the national response to GBV and align with the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign.
This initiative seeks to support indoor, outdoor, and/or drive-in public film screenings that stimulate dialogue, healing, and social cohesion by showcasing South African films that address the multifaceted impact of GBV on individuals, families, and society.
Funding Information
- Grant amount: R150,000 per approved application
- Number of Screenings: 1 to 3 screenings per applicants
- Duration: All screenings must take place between 25 November 2025 (the start of 16 Days of Activism) and 31 January 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
- For the interested service provider to be considered, they must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a South African citizen
- The company to be at least 51% owned and managed by the applicant.
- Eligible Tiers:
- Tier 2 (Intermediate Public Screening): public screenings that have been in existence for more than 5 years and less than 10 years
- Tier 3 (Emerging Public Screening): hosts public screenings that have been in existence for less than 5 years.
Application Requirements
- A one page letter of motivation (Must indicate the aims and objectives of the project, how they will achieve a return on investment, and the benefits to the local film industry).
- A detailed project plan and programme, including a proposed screening schedule (listing the names of films, dates, times, and venues of screenings).
- An audience development plan and strategy.
- A detailed project budget.
- A certified copy of the Applicant’s South African identity document (Dated within six months at the date of application) or valid permit or proof of permanent resident status.
- A certified copy of the company’s registration document.
- Valid BBBEE certificate or the BBBEE affidavit, signed by a commissioner of Oath
- Valid company tax clearance certificate or tax compliance pin document from SARS
- A bank account confirmation letter (dated within three months at the date of application).
- A company profile including a detailed CV of the project director and his/her team that will be working on this project
- Film Publication Board Certificate: This will be required at the contracting stage for approved proposals.
