The PPL Momentum Music Fund is offering grants to UK based artists/bands to break through to the next level of their careers.
PPL Momentum Music Fund provides vital financial support which will help talented artists and bands to take their career to the next level. Activities eligible for support include recording, writing, touring and marketing.
The Momentum Musical Fund is managed by the PRS Foundation in partnership with the Arts Council of Wales, the Welsh Government, Creative Scotland and PPL.
Funding Information
- You can apply for £5,000–£15,000 to contribute to your artistic development. They recommend that you budget realistically to show what you need. On average they give grants of around £10,000 each.
Eligible Funding
- Recording – album/extended record/new single, producer/engineer/mixer/session musician fees, studio hire etc.
- Touring (UK only) – travel, accommodation, musician fees, set design/production, tour management, equipment hire etc
- Marketing and promotion – online PR, radio promoter, digital marketing, music videos, merchandise production etc
- Note: They give priority to contributing to expenditure which helps you/the artist to develop professionally and creatively.
Ineligible Funding
- Buying a car/van
- International travel
- Support for a group of artists – all applications must focus on one artist
- A project that requires money that will/could/could be paid under the artist/band’s agreement with the label, publisher, management company or other relationships (eg travel costs)
- Capital projects (eg construction works)
- Buy equipment
- Building a studio
Who can apply?
- Artists/Bands applying for the PPL Momentum Music Fund must be at a crucial tipping point in their careers, showing current progression and growth as an artist with the potential to significantly develop their careers over the next two years. The activity that PPL Momentum Music funding would support must take place in the UK.
- In exceptional circumstances they will support activity such as recording in international territories. Applicants must make a compelling case as to why this activity cannot happen in the UK and they recommend you speak to a member of the team to check eligibility.
- Applications can be made by artists/bands directly or representatives of the artist. Those who can apply on behalf of an artist are:
- Manager
- Label
- Publisher
- Booking agent
- PR/Plugger
- Lawyer
- Trusted advisor to the artist
Eligibility Criteria
- If your answers are yes to the questions below, you may be eligible for the Fund’s money and you can think about applying.
- Are you a British based artist/band?
- Do you write or perform your own music?
- Have you been profiled or featured in the national press/media and featured in leading British blogs?
- Have you performed or been asked to perform several times across Britain?
- Do you have evidence of a strong fan base nationally and regionally?
- Do you have at least one team member (e.g. a manager, booking agent, record label, publisher, PR/Plugger, and/or lawyer)
- They are unable to support artists signed to ‘major label deals’.
