The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation has announced Grants for Internationalisation to support projects that contribute to the international visibility of Portuguese and foreign creators in the areas of Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Cinema and Cross-Disciplinary projects.
Objectives
- Support will be granted to:
- Encourage the implementation of projects that contribute to creating and strengthening international collaboration networks with an impact on the professional growth of the Entities as well as the visibility and recognition of their work;
- Support the travel of artists, authors/programmers/curators to participate in artistic projects promoted by leading international cultural institutions with regular activity in the areas of this Competition.
Funding Information
- The amount of support to be granted will be determined by the Foundation, with a ceiling reference amount of €5,000 and mainly affects travel, accommodation and meal expenses of the Beneficiary Entities.
Eligibility Criteria
- The following may apply for support:
- Portuguese artists, authors, curators, programmers, in their individual name or through private Portuguese non-profit organizations with which collaborate in the execution of the project that is the subject of the application;
- Foreign artists, authors, curators, programmers with tax domicile in Portugal, in an individual name, or through private Portuguese non-profit organizations with which they collaborate in the execution of the project subject of the application;
- In the case of projects involving several artists/authors/programmers/curators, the responsibility of each one must be indicated and identified the representative who will assume the role of Beneficiary Entity (artist/author/programmer/curator responsible for the project or private non-profit organization with which he/she collaborates in the execution of the project that is the subject of the application);
- Each candidate artist (individually or collectively) may only present an application within the framework of this competition.
Ineligibility Criteria
- The following will be exclusion criteria for the competition:
- Projects that take place in commercial contexts;
- Projects of an academic or school nature;
- Projects exclusively in the fields of Architecture, Design, Publishing or Music;
- Entity Applications (author artist/programmer/responsible curator) by the project and/or private Portuguese non-profit organization with which it collaborates in the execution of the project subject of the application) that are in a situation of unjustified non-compliance with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, particularly with regard to the presentation of material execution reports and/ or financial, or return of balances, or who already simultaneously benefit from other support granted by the Foundation.
Evaluation Criteria
- The verification of the admissibility and eligibility requirements of projects is carried out by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, taking into account the given requirements.
- The criteria for evaluating projects are:
- The justification of the internationalization objectives;
- The detailed characterization of the project to be carried out or the work to be presented;
- The artistic career of the artist/programmer/curator responsible for the project;
- The benefit of the internationalization context for the professional development of the artist/programmer/curator responsible for the project and (if applicable) of other artists involved in the project;
- The relevance of the host Entities or events and their involvement in the conditions for making the project viable.
