The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is pleased to invite grant applications to support artists with unique and relevant artistic creation projects in the areas of Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Cinema and Cross-Disciplinary projects.
Objectives
- Support will be granted for the execution of creative projects that demonstrate its uniqueness and relevance in the context of contemporary artistic practices, namely:
- Projects for the complete creation of a work registered in the Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Cinema or Disciplinary Crossings;
- Projects for the partial implementation of the creative process in the areas referred to in the first point.
Funding Information
- The amount of support is variable and is divided into four levels: €4,000, €8,000, €12,000 and €16,000. Entities (artists, authors or private non-profit organisations) may choose the level they apply for depending on the nature of their projects, and the amount requested may be any amount.
- Duration:
- Projects must be executed between 1 July 2025 and December 31, 2027;
- Projects must begin within 12 months following the date of July 1, 2025.
Eligibility Criteria
- The following may apply for support:
- Portuguese artists, in their individual name, or through private Portuguese non-profit organizations with which they collaborate in the execution of the project that is the subject of the application;
- Foreign artists and authors with tax domicile in Portugal, in the name individual, or through private Portuguese non-profit organizations with which they collaborate in the execution of the project subject of the application;
- In the case of projects involving several author artists, the following must be indicated:
- the responsibility of each one and the representative identified (artist author or private non-profit organization with which it collaborates in the execution of the project) which will assume the quality of Beneficiary Entity;
- Each candidate artist (individually or collectively) may only present an application within the framework of this competition;
- Projects must provide for a documented record of the work carried out, including public presentation, if any, as well as the respective reflective and critical self-evaluation.
Ineligibility Criteria
- The following will be exclusion criteria for the competition:
- Projects of a commercial nature;
- Projects with an academic or school nature;
- Curatorship projects in any of the disciplines in the competition;
- Projects exclusively in the fields of Architecture, Design, of Editing and Music;
- Applications from Entities (artists, authors and/or private non-profit organizations) profitable) that are in a situation of unjustified non-compliance with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, especially with regard to the presentation of reports on material and/or financial execution, or return of balances, or which already simultaneously benefit from other support granted by the Foundation;
- Applications from Entities (artists, authors and/or private non-profit organizations) profitable) that benefit, at the date of application, from biennial or quadrennial support from DGARTES/Ministry of Culture.
