Call for Submissions: Clinical Research Grants

Goals

• This regulation establishes the rules for the allocation of support within the scope of the Competition, aimed at carrying out postgraduate courses – 1st editions or others – in areas of health and biomedical sciences, with the main objective of contributing to the development of clinical research in the PALOP.
• The Competition aims to support courses that:
  • Offer quality technical and scientific training, enabling researchers and health professionals to respond to priority challenges in clinical research;
  • Contribute to improving the quality of clinical practice, through the continuous updating of knowledge and the application of rigorous research methodologies.

Focus Areas

• Strengthening knowledge on diagnosis or the development of new therapies for diseases affecting the population;
• Generating scientific evidence to improve clinical care and protocols;
• Building the capacities of research institutions and healthcare institutions at a clinical level;
• Fostering national and international partnerships between research institutions—particularly those in the PALOP countries—and encouraging the participation of researchers in international networks.

Funding Information

• The support to be granted by the FCG for the implementation of each course will be a maximum of 30,000 (thirty thousand Euros), and may not exceed 85% of the total funding foreseen for the Course.
• A maximum of 6 (six) applications will be approved.

Eligibility Criteria

• Higher education institutions in Portuguese-speaking African Countries (PALOP), public or private non-profit, that have been teaching for at least 10 years and have a teaching department in the area of Medicine or Health Sciences, hereinafter referred to as proposing institutions, are eligible for this Competition.
• Proposing institutions may submit applications individually or in association with another higher education institution, namely Portuguese.

Evaluation Criteria

• Analysis of the course curriculum;
• Curriculum of the course’s teaching team;
• Articulation of the course with the rest of the training offered by the proposing institution and its suitability to the country’s context and national training needs.
• Provision of complementary curricular enrichment activities to classroom training.

• Name of the institution proposing and responsible for the course;
• Characterization of the proposing institution;
• Course curriculum plan;
• Teaching staff CV;
• Partner entity involved (if applicable);
• Budget proposal;
• Relevance and expected impact.
