The National University of Singapore has announced its CIDER Fellowship Grant Program, a financial support initiative exclusively available to students from low- middle- income countries.
The fellowship aims to enable deserving candidates to pursue the Master of Science in Infectious Disease Emergencies (MSc IDE) program, ensuring that the opportunity to gain world-class education is accessible to those who have the potential to make a meaningful impact in their communities.
Purpose
- Bridge Educational Gaps: Provide financial assistance to talented individuals from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder access to quality education.
- Cultivate Leadership: Support the development of future leaders in infectious disease emergency response and preparedness who will drive transformative change in their home countries.
- Promote Global Equity: Strengthen the global capacity to respond to infectious diseases by empowering students from low- middle income countries to participate in and contribute to global health systems.

- Enhance Representation: Ensure that students from low- middle income regions are well-represented in the program, fostering diverse perspectives and inclusive dialogue.
- Build Community Resilience: Equip recipients with advanced knowledge and practical skills to address and manage infectious disease emergencies in resource-limited settings.

- The CIDER Fellowship Grant is designed to support students from low- middle- income countries in pursuing the MSc Infectious Disease Emergencies (IDE) program. To be eligible for this fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Citizenship: Applicants must be citizens of a country classified as low or middle-income by the World Bank.
- Academic Qualifications: Applicants should possess a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in a relevant field, such as medicine, public health, microbiology, or epidemiology.
- Professional Experience: A minimum of two years of work experience in public health, infectious disease management, or a related area is required.
- English Proficiency: Proficiency in English is essential, as the program is conducted in English. Applicants may need to provide proof of language proficiency through standardized tests like TOEFL or IELTS.
- Commitment to Home Country: Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to returning to their home country upon completion of the program to contribute to local health systems and emergency preparedness. A recommendation letter from their organization is required, affirming the candidate’s intent to contribute upon return.
- Financial Need: Applicants should provide evidence of financial need, indicating that they would not be able to pursue the program without the fellowship support.
