Call for Proposals: PCORI Implementation Awards (US)

PCORI will fund projects that aim to implement patient-centered comparative clinical effectiveness research (CER) results obtained from PCORI-funded research in real-world practice settings, and, in selected cases, projects that focus on the dissemination of these findings.

The funding opportunity gives PCORI awardees the chance, following the generation of results from their PCORI-funded research award, to propose next steps to move their findings into practice, while drawing from the knowledge and experience they gained during their PCORI-funded research award.

Categories

• Implementation Projects: This PFA seeks to fund Implementation Projects that represent a logical and feasible next step for implementing clinically meaningful findings in ways that will significantly increase the reach, generalizability, uptake, and overall impact of the evidence proposed for implementation.
• Dissemination Projects: PCORI will also fund Dissemination Projects with the primary goal of actively spreading knowledge and awareness of evidence from PCORI-funded research studies and increasing targeted end user’s motivation and ability to use it.
• Implementation Planning Projects: PCORI will also fund Implementation Planning Projects in which investigator teams will complete preparatory work that they have identified as necessary for successful subsequent implementation efforts.

Funding Information

• Implementation Projects:
  • Grant amount: Up to $2.5 million in direct costs.
  • Duration: Up to four years.
• Dissemination Projects:
  • Grant amount: Up to $300,000 in total costs.
  • Duration: Up to three years.
• Implementation Planning Projects:
  • Grant amount: Up to $200,000 in total costs.
  • Duration: Up to two years.

Eligibility Criteria

• PCORI Research Awardees: Recipients of PCORI-funded research awards are eligible to respond to this PFA. This includes recipients of Broad PCORI Awards, Pilot Projects Program Awards, Targeted PCORI Awards, Pragmatic Clinical Study Awards, and PCORI-funded demonstration projects occurring within the National Patient-Centered Clinical Research Network (PCORnet) infrastructure (e.g., ADAPTABLE and obesity trials). Receipt of a PCORI nonresearch award (i.e., Eugene Washington PCORI Engagement Award or Pipeline to Proposal Award) does not qualify for this limited competition PFA.
• Principal Investigator (PI): The proposed PI of the current application must be the PI of the original PCORI-funded research project or a member of that project’s research team who played a significant role in the research project. If the latter, then the proposed PI must obtain a letter of support from the PI of the original PCORI-funded research.
