The Evidence Gap

• Which factors within educational settings influence mental health in children and adolescents, and what is the effect of environmental interventions to promote mental health?
• What is the effect of interventions for children who have been subjected to abuse and neglect or have experienced violence in close relationships?
• What is the effect of interventions on bullying and cyberbullying among children and adolescents?
• What is the effect of non-pharmacological treatments for children and adolescents with ADHD?
• What are the treatment alternatives to mental health admissions for children and adolescents experiencing mental health crises, and what are their treatment effects?
• What is the effect of school-based interventions for mental health conditions in children and adolescents?
• What is the effect of parenting interventions and family-based therapy on mental health conditions in children and adolescents?
• What is the effect of psychosocial intervention programs to prevent gender-based violence and sexual violence during adolescence?
• What is the effect of inclusion (in school) on socioemotional development and wellbeing of children with special educational needs?
• What is the effect of relapse prevention strategies on risk of and time to relapse in previously depressed or anxious adolescents?

Funding Information

• Up to a total of NOK 20 million (£1.46) to collaborative research projects.

Duration

• The maximum project duration is six years.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for funding, the projects must meet all the following criteria:

• The research project must address one of the evidence gaps.
• The formal applicant must be a university, academic institution or research institution or institute in Norway, Sweden, Finland or the United Kingdom (host institution).
• The principal investigator must have a formal affiliation to the host institution.
• Funding from the Kavli Trust cannot be used for overhead and/or other expenses not directly related to the project.
• The host institution must provide a considerable in-kind contribution. In the full proposal a commitment letter signed by the head of the institution, describing the nature and level of its contribution to the project must be attached.
• The research project must commit to user involvement. In the full proposal, the names of two user representatives who will serve as members of the project group must be provided.
• The proposal and the attachments must be written in English.
