The Ataxia Charlevoix-Saguenay Foundation is inviting applications for its Research Grant Program to further encourage and accelerate the development of a treatment for ARSACS.
Objectives
- The main research objective of the Ataxia Charlevoix-Saguenay Foundation is to develop a treatment for ARSACS.
Areas of Research
- The efforts of the foundation are concentrated currently in three main research areas:
- Financing of several promissing research projects with researchers that are experts in this field.
- Conducting clinical trials
- Forming partnerships with other organizations and pharmaceutical companies to further the understanding of this disease and conduct independent research.
Funding Information
- The research grant could be as high as $100,000 for a 12-month period and with the possibility for renewal.
- As for “start-up financing” (Seed Grant), the research grant can reach CAN$25,000 for a period of 12 months with a possibility of renewal.
- A previously funded project can be renewed from year to year but must contain a research advancement section that clearly demonstrates the accomplishment of the proposed objectives and milestones.
Eligibility Criteria
- Only one proposal can be submitted by a PI. However, an independent investigator submitting a proposal as PI can be a collaborator on other proposals.
- Independent investigators must hold an academic position in a recognized institutions (Universities, Research Centers, hospitals, or affiliates) as means to ensure the funds will be used appropriately.
Evaluation Criteria
- The Scientific Advisory Board of the Ataxia of Charlevoix-Saguenay Foundation will evaluate each application. Proposals will be assessed on novelty/innovation, scientific merit, potential impact, and feasibility of the experimental plan.
