The City of Brussels makes subsidies available for the implementation, on its territory, of local initiatives contributing to the transition of its territory towards a resilient city and producing beneficial effects for the benefit of the climate and of the environment.
Its objectives for the City’s territory are clear and ambitious:
- reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 55% in 2030
- achieve carbon neutrality in 2050
- strengthen the territory’s resilience in the face of climate change
Themes
- Renovation and energy: any project allowing the reduction of the impact of buildings on the climate and the environment (giving priority to reused, durable, recyclable and/or local construction materials, ensuring optimal energy performance of the building, reduce energy consumption).
- Nature and biodiversity: any project aimed at safeguarding or developing nature and biodiversity a would.
- Mobility and air quality: any project linked to soft and/or shared mobility and/or having a positive impact on air quality.
- Water: any project whose main activities are directly linked to sustainable and integrated management of water resources and aquatic environments (rainwater, surface water, groundwater, tap water, etc.).
- Zero waste and resources: any project aimed at reduction, reuse, recycling or recovery as waste resources.
- Sustainable food and urban agriculture: any project linked to the responsible and sustainable production of food in the city, the reappropriation of urban space for sustainable food purposes or the promotion of local, seasonal and respectful food. environmental, social and ethical criteria.
- Economic and solidarity transition: any non-profit project enabling the transition from a linear economy to a sustainable and local economy (circular economy, social and solidarity economy, etc.) and/or promoting the inclusiveness and accessibility of the transition to all.
- Events, culture and tourism: any project linked to the sustainable transition of the events, cultural or sightseeing.
- Children, youth and awareness: any environmental awareness or education project, particularly with children or young people.
Amount
As part of this call for projects, they will distinguish two different types of projects:
- Category A projects: are projects for which the amount of subsidy requested is less than or equal to at 10,000 euros. If the project is carried out by less than 3 individuals, the amount is limited to a maximum amount of €500.
- Category B projects: are projects for which the amount of subsidy requested is greater than 10,000 euros and less than 40,000 euros.
What Projects?
- Propose a project that contributes to making Brussels a more sustainable and resilient city in the face of climate change. It can be included in the following areas: renovation and energy, nature and biodiversity, mobility and air quality, water, waste and resources, sustainable food and urban agriculture, economic and solidarity transition, events, culture and tourism, childhood and youth and awareness.
Localisation: Projects, regardless of type, must be implemented and take place within the territory of the City of Brussels (i.e.: Pentagon, Louise, Laeken, Neder-OverHeembeek, Haren, Quartier Nord and /or European Quarter.
Who can participate?
- An adult and capable natural person
- A de facto association: a committee of residents, neighborhoods, parents, etc.
- A non-profit organization or association with legal personality
- An educational establishment or host environment
- An SME
- And be domiciled in the territory of the City of Brussels or whose head office is located there.
