The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences has announced its KNAW Van Walree Grant for initiatives that enable (more) sustainable knowledge sharing about medical-scientific research between medical-scientific researchers.
Funding Information
- A contribution amounts to a maximum of €10,000.
Costs Covered
- The budget only covers direct costs for realizing the activity or product (for example design and development costs for dashboard, animation, infographics, etc., technical facilities and support for an online meeting, online moderator’s fee and organisation expenses)
- The financial contribution is not intended for salary costs of researchers involved, existing activities or products, communication activities for non-scientific public Page 2 of 3 groups, purchase of hardware (computers, projectors, etc.), venue rental, travel and accommodation costs, speakers’ fees, or other regular conference costs
Eligible Activities
- It pertains to medical-scientific research
- The activities or products make knowledge transfer between medical-scientific researchers possible
- The activities or products make knowledge internationally widely accessible
- The activities or products are not yet financed by existing projects
- The activities or products have a recognizable sustainability component, which means that they contribute to knowledge transfer with the least possible burden on nature and the environment
- The activities or products will be realized within two years after the award of the financial contribution
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications can be submitted by scientific researchers:
- Who work in the medical, biomedical, or health sciences;
- Who are affiliated with a university or research institute in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Assessment Criteria
- Relevance for medical-scientific research;
- The social impact of the activity/product;
- The level of internationally wide accessibility of the acquired knowledge;
- The level of sustainability of the activity/product (sustainability being primarily interpreted as minimizing the burden on nature and the environment);
- A clear budget and timeline (feasibility within the specified time with the available resources).
Application Requirements
- Applications must be submitted in Dutch or English by e-mail, using the form provided by the KNAW and accompanied by the requested attachments. An application will be considered to have been submitted when the person submitting it receives confirmation of receipt from the KNAW.
- The application form, together with the requested attachments, must be sent before the deadline set by the KNAW. Applications that have not been submitted by that date will not be considered.
- Members of the Board of the KNAW and members of the Fund’s Assessment Committee may not submit/co-submit applications.
