Deadline: 13 March 2024
Skateistan is currently seeking applications from women and non-binary people with project ideas that will use skateboarding to improve physical and mental well-being, inclusivity, and promote gender equity.
For the fifth year in a row, Skateistan and Women Win are teaming up to support women and non-binary leadership in skateboarding.
The ROLL Models programme is a unique opportunity for people with a passion for skateboarding to connect with and support each other, gain in-depth training and support, and to work towards a more diverse and inclusive skateboarding community.
The ROLL Models programme is designed to support and create visibility for women and non-binary leaders within skateboarding and to fund the projects they’ve designed — so that the next generation of girls and gender-diverse youth can build confidence, community, and life skills on and off their skateboards.
A total of €35,000 in grants will be awarded to the selected ROLL Models in 2024. The fund prioritizes projects which work with girls (ages 5-18) as their main focus group, however you may apply with a project that includes other target groups. They actively encourage applications from those who identify as trans, non-binary and all other underrepresented groups and marginalised communities, including but not limited to; black, indigenous, people of colour, LGBTQIA+, people with visible and non-visible disabilities, rural and marginalised urban communities, people from lower-income backgrounds, individuals with care experience, displaced communities, people who face gender discrimination and/or oppression.
Selected ROLL Models will receive:
- A seed-grant of up to €3000 to fund their project idea
- A place at their ROLL Models Leadership Camp in Berlin this summer (including travel, accommodation & expenses)
- Support and guidance from Skateistan and Women Win
- Access to educational and training resources, as well as access to the network of past and present ROLL Models
