Botín Foundation announces Art Grant Programme

Deadline: 9 May 2025

The Botín Foundation is delighted to announce its Art Grant Programme to aid both training and the development of personal and research projects, which must be directly linked to artistic creation rather than to the development of a theoretical study.

The Botín Foundation offers six scholarships for artists of any nationality with an expected duration of nine months and an endowment, in addition to medical insurance for recipients who need to travel to a country other than their country of residence. Of these six grants, one will be reserved in priority for an artist who is Spanish or resident in Spain (for at least five years immediately prior to applying for the grant), under 30 years of age, who wants to spend time abroad to continue their work, their studies or a residence.

Benefits

  • In addition to financial support, the grants programme will showcase the works created by the chosen artists in a collective exhibition at the Centro Botín, Itinerarios, which this year celebrates its twenty-seventh iteration. The works will be presented not only in the exhibition gallery but also in other spaces or formats better suited to making the artists’ researches public, as may be the case with performance, participatory activities or video cycles, among others.
  • In addition, at the end of the grant period, the Botín Foundation continues its commitment to grant-aided artists by closely following their subsequent progress and, where appropriate, by purchasing works for inclusion in its Collection.

Funding Information

  • The total amount of the grant is €23,000. Grant money can be used for living expenses, travel, equipment and studio rentals, and any other related production cost related with the project.
  • Duration: Grants are given to cover a period of nine months.

Application Requirements

  • Applications will be accepted in Spanish and in English.
  • Documents must be submitted on single-side printed paper in DINA4 format (or US letter size); the maximum length is 40 single-side printed pages with no staples or bindings.
  • Only audiovisual files should be submitted on USB sticks formatted for PC. Applications that do not conform to this standard will not be considered.
  • Documents to be submitted:
    • A photocopy of a valid ID: NIF for Spanish citizens; NIE for residents in Spain; passport or government issued ID cards for all others; Tax Identification forms are valid).
    • A curriculum vitae, which includes: academic qualifications, professional activity, exhibitions, prizes, scholarships, etc. (3 single-side printed pages maximum).
    • Project title and summary (one hundred words maximum). Full description of the project: goal, action plan (stages of development and schedule) and your personal reasons for wanting to carry it out. (10 single-side printed pages maximum).
    • Graphic Documentation, prints or color photocopies of the work (originals will not be accepted, as well as accompanying documentation such as catalogs, brochures, etc.). It must be in a single-side DINA4 format.
    • Only for the grant given in priority to under-30 Spanish artist: a detailed explanation of where they intend to relocate, the project to develop and its relation to any previous projects. In case the grant is intended for training, an acceptance letter from the organization must be submitted.
